Imagine waiting for your big moment in the NFL Draft, phone in hand, heart racing… and then *ring ring* — a call comes through. It sounds like an NFL team is about to pick you. Except… It’s a prank.
That’s exactly what happened to Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback son of NFL legend Deion Sanders. Just before the 2025 Draft, someone pretending to be the New Orleans Saints' general manager called him and said he was about to be picked. But it was all fake.
The prankster? Jax Ulbrich — a 21-year-old whose dad, Jeff Ulbrich, happens to be the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. Jax admitted it was him. He found Shedeur’s number on an unlocked iPad at home and decided to have a little “fun.” But it’s no laughing matter now.
Jax made the call using a special NFL-only phone number, which raised major concerns about privacy and trust. The Falcons quickly apologized and made it clear that Jax acted alone—his dad had no idea.
Shedeur, now drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, called the prank “childish,” but said it didn’t bother him much.
Still, the NFL is taking it seriously. Other players also got prank calls that night, and now the league is digging into how private info got out — and how to make sure this never happens again.
